Pino's knowledge of WWII history made our stay nice. The room decor felt outdated and could use improvement.

Reasonably priced and lovely welcoming hotel located just off trainstation, and the Abbey and Battlefields. Varied breakfast with local pastries and with outstanding food available...

Pino's passion for the Battle of Monte Cassino was inspiring! The location was perfect, with easy access to attractions and modern amenities. Just wish breakfast had more variety for non-sweet items 🍽️

Rooms are basic with older furnishings but clean and comfortable. Bathrooms were well appointed and presented. Hotel is in an excellent position in a quite part of Cassino but only 10 mins walk to centre. Staff were courteous and helpful and the owner was engaging and presented us with a bottle of Gustav Wine when we left. stunning views of Monte Cassino monastery .
Breakfast was limited with no hot food or fruit. Limited choice of cereal.

The owner Pino provides really good historical insights about WWII.
I found it frustrating to navigate transportation in Cassino. The lack of available taxis forced me to wait almost an hour at the train station. The room decor was outdated, and it desperately lacked basic amenities like a kettle.

Checking out
We didn't get room booked for and was nothing like pictures. Granted it was late but ended up in a smoking room (specified non smoking) it reeked of an old pub at 3am. It was carpeted (booking had specified marble/tiled floors). Two single uncomfortable beds (specified double or queen) with disgusting old dusty upholstered headboards. The shower was undersized you could barely fit in it lettle own wash properly. When I raised the issue with morning staff no remedy or compensation offered and in a couldnt care less manner a mediocre 'sorry to hear you are not happy' . I've stayed at better backpackers.

If you're visiting Montecassino for the WWII battlefields, this is definitely the place to stay. The owner, Pino, is an amazing source of information, as well as very interested in hearing our war "stories". He speaks good English, will explain where to go, what to see and how to get there, sometimes even coming with you as your guide, if he can, giving you so many insights into so many aspects of the battles and the soldiers' lives. All the staff are very welcoming and friendly. I would strongly suggest hiring a car.
The hotel is a little shabby in places, but well worth the price you pay. I would definitely stay here again.

The fine panoramic view of the abbey from our room was lovely. I loved the unique wine-and-cheese presentation highlighting Monte Cassino's history.

This is the 3rd we have stayed in this hotel and it never ever lets us down. My partner joined us this year and she was blown away. Such a shame we have only ever stayed one night.
